Vacancy for Biodiversity Officer at WRC

Waikato Regional Council (the main funder of the Waikato Biodiversity Forum) is recruiting for a Biodiversity Officer in our Natural Heritage Team, due to one of our staff moving across into a new position in the Biosecurity Animal Pests Team.

This is a fulltime role suitable for someone with an ecology/environmental science degree and at least 5 years’ experience in biodiversity management. Ideally, the candidate would have practical experience and knowledge in all aspects of ecological restoration including developing ecological restoration plans, working with community conservation groups, plant and animal pest management, providing technical advice and running our Small Scale Community Initiatives Fund.

It’s a great role, within a small but well-connected team and you get to work all over the Waikato region with a good mix of office and field work.

If this sounds like you, please check out the role description and information here:

Applications close 15 October.

Happy to talk further and provide more detail

Judy

The piece highlights the important work of a number of community groups involved in Kirikiriroa's biodiversity protection and enhancement mahi. Thanks to you all for making Hamilton beautiful!!

Thanks also to Moira Cursey for penning the draft and Kim cable from Community Waikato for the editing and publishing it.
